Brooklynite Mos Def proves once again his musical versatility as he teams up with the virtually created concept band Gorillaz and Chicago-based Hypnotic Brass Ensemble “Sweepstakes”. Off the upcoming Gorillaz offering “Plastic Beach” this banging track is obviously not a conventional rap tune but it has creative potential to satisfy your ears nonetheless. British newspaper The Guardian presented the whole album in its full glory as a stream today. You can check it out here. “Plastic Beach” is supposed to drop March 8th in the UK and March 9th in the USA.
Sited on a vacant corner in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, this newly constructed house by Qbstitches itself into the neighborhood by responding to local cues. Curved brick corners negotiate the irregular street grid, while the cadence of typical rowhouses and a palette of brick volumes and stone bases are translated into a new vocabulary. I might have to do a drive-by, since it’s so close to me.
Considering the original is already epic, I would never see the reason to redo it. But Hasan Insane took the time out to flip the same sample Blaze used for something fresh. Blending a Nas verse in at perfect timing. Some folks will enjoy this (like myself), while others will talk shit til their fingers bleed.
